Let's Talk About Double Cleansing!

We've all heard the golden rule of skincare: "wash your face before bed". However, a popular trend is to now wash your face twice before bed. Double cleansing has grown in popularity as a K-beauty habit for glowing skin. Which makes sense since double cleansing helps remove all the debris, bacteria, makeup, and sebum which sets the foundation for healthy and glowing skin!

What is Double Cleansing?

Its a skin cleaning method that involves cleansing the skin with two different formulas- an oil cleanser and a water cleanser. The reason this method works is because not all makeup is formulated the same- some are oil based such as waterproof mascaras and SPF, while some is water-based. Double cleansing ensures that every speck is gone from your face, leaving behind a glowing, healthy canvas.

Do you need to Double Cleanse?

If you tend to wear a lot of makeup or skincare products, then you probably do! This Korean skincare trend bases this method on the fact that there are many "layers" needed to achieve a daytime look, such as makeup, skincare, and SPF, which all needs to be taken off at night.

Double cleansing will also help to truly clean your pores, since over time, traces of makeup that's left on the skin can cause it to be come irritated and be more prone to breakouts. It also ensures that any active ingredients that are part of your skincare routine really penetrate the skin. Double cleansing is really worth that little extra effort.

How to Double Cleanse

Double cleansing is pretty easy and not time consuming at all! The whole process should take around 5 minutes!

First: Use about 3-4 pumps of our Oil Cleanser on dry skin. We have two which are formulated for different skin types. Choose whichever one suits your skin the best. Having dry skin will make sure that the oil doesn't dilute and takes off even the most stubborn of makeup. Emulsify with warm water and rinse it off.

Second: With your skin still damp, use about 3 pumps of our any of our face cleansers. They all produce a gentle foam that leaves your skin soft and doesn't strip it dry of its natural oils. Rinse with lukewarm water, since hot water can be drying for the skin. Use a microfiber towel to pat dry the skin; rubbing your skin with a towel can cause microtears for bacteria to seep in.

When to do Your Double Cleanse

Double cleansing should always be done at night, because that's when you're most likely to have products on your skin like makeup, skincare and SPF. You can also double cleanse every day since this is a gentle method.
